Many families are just fine with owning a cat or a dog. However, some individuals with unique personalities would like to have a pet that is as unique as they are. A dog or cat just doesn't cut it for these individuals. Luckily, there is a great number of animals &pets available other than cats and dogs.
The tarantula is a pet that is not for everyone. However, if you can get past your initial fear of spiders there are many benefits to owning a tarantula. Tarantulas are one of the animals & pets that are easy to take care of. They also tend to be long lived and some species are docile enough to tolerate handling.
For the squeamish, a hermit crab may be a better choice. While these animals & pets are a lot less formidable, they do require more care. The hermit crab should be paired with friend because they do like company. This is different then the Tarantulas who are carnivorous and need to be kept separate from each other. Hermit crabs also need the right temperature and other environmental conditions.
If you are more of a bird person, than you might consider lovebirds as your next pet. These animals & pets have a very playful and curious nature that makes them ideal pets. They are not large birds so housing and care will be easier than other bird species. The neat thing about love birds is that when they are paired up they will show a great deal of affection for each other by grooming and snuggling each other.
The boa constrictor is another strange pet idea. These animals & pets have make great pets because they live for many years. However, they do grow to a pretty good size depending on the type of boa. Also, the cost of feeding the boa may higher than some animals & pets. |
