Kauai- Kauai is the oldest and fourth largest city of the Hawaiian Islands. The U.S. Navy's Pacific Missile Range Facility is located here. Kauai was featured in Disney's animated film Lilo and Stitch. Lanai- Lanai is known as the Pineapple Island. In 1779 Europeans first saw Lanai. There are only two resort hotels located here. Both resorts have world-class golf courses. Nihau- on the beaches of this island, shells are classified as gems. Jewelry is made from these shells and is very popular. Native Hawaiians who live here mainly speak the Hawaiian language. Oahu- Oahu is the home of 900,000 people. It is nicknamed the "Gathering Place". About 5 million people come here to visit every year. Hundreds of movies have been filmed here on this island. Molokai- Molokai is known as the " Friendly Isle". Many fishponds are located on the south shore. In many recent years, some have ever been restored. The airport is located on the west side of Molokai. Kahoolawe- in Kahoolawe there is no permanent residents. On the northeast side, 100 or more people once lived there. Originally, Kahoolawe was once originally dry, mesic forest environment with intermittent streams.
Honolulu - Honolulu means " sheltered bay" or "place of shelter." in 2004 the population was estimated to be 390,000. The government operated only at the county level. Hilo- Hilo population in 2000 was estimated to be 40,759. In 1960 Hilo expanded inland. Hilo doesn't have a municipal government and isn't an incorporated city. Hilo is the county seat of Hawaii County. Kaliu Kona- Kaliu Kona- had a population of 9,870 in the year 2000. There is also a Kona bicycle company located in this city. Kona International Airport serves many people in this city each and everyday. Lihue- in the year 2000 the population was estimated to be 5,674. In the Hawaiian language, Lihue means "Cold Chill". Many big retail stores can be found here, such as K-Mart and Home Depot.
